February 20, 2019In India, PUMA is the number one sports brand, the market leader.
It goes without saying that PUMA India wants to keep it that way and secure its competitiveness in the future. But how? The answer is: PUMA Labs.
PUMA Labs is a platform that drives future thinking and innovation. PUMA is the market leader in India, and with PUMA Labs we want to cement that position by staying ahead of the curve!
The first project initiated by PUMA Labs is #Catalyst2019, a competition aimed at taking PUMA India to the next level, while addressing current challenges. In teams of three to five people, PUMA India’s employees submitted their ideas on how to improve the company.
“The improvements could refer to basically anything and any field within the company, be it steps in the supply chain, retail, e-commerce or marketing,” explained Shreya Sachdev, Senior Manager Strategic Initiatives for PUMA India, who leads the project.
The only important thing was that the idea added significant value, either in the near future or in the long run. It could also be something PUMA India had not been considering yet.
To give you an idea of the dimensions we are talking about: The winning team(s) could walk away with 10% of total additional EBIT generated on successful implementation of their ideas by the end of the year!
75 employees in 24 teams handed in their ideas. Last week, the teams came together in PUMA’s Bangalore office. Every team was allocated a project guide, who works in a leading position in the field which the team wants to improve. Lending the teams their expertise, the project guides prepare them for PUMA’s very own tank round!
What are the next steps?
At the end of February, every team gets 25 minutes to pitch their ideas and present a detailed plan including an implementation schedule, stakeholders involved, success metrics and a budget plan to the Catalyst jury, which choses the best five to seven ideas to be implemented in the near or long term.
The winning teams will work directly with Abhishek Ganguly, PUMA India’s Managing Director.
Stay tuned to learn how PUMA India will secure its leadership position in the future. As soon as the first ideas will be implemented, we will introduce the pioneers to you!
