We head back to the future with the RS-X Bold. PUMA’s release of this technologically-advanced sneaker with a retro style gives us a daring mash-up of different time-periods.

The Shoe

Whispers in the sneakerhead world confirm that futuristic tech trends continue to be all the rage, and the RS-X Bold does not disappoint. The shoes give off a striking first impression with their signature cushioning technology running up the midsole, adding stability to the bulky sneaker. The modern tech and black mesh upper details are then offset by bursts of bright colors superimposed on rubber and leather.

It’s a futuristic shoe that acts as a canvas for a playful colour palette, with all the elements coming together to demand your attention. So, to give you some inspiration on how to wear these loud and proud sneakers, we have allowed the bold shoes to be the stars of the outfit, and styled a fashionable look around them.

The Outfit

Moving up from the shoes we have gone with a pair of no-fuss, navy blue chinos. Versatile, and subtly dressy, the soft cotton material is still durable and easy to move in. The length of the trouser is on point for men’s fashion in 2019—there is a distinct trend movement towards cropped pants (ankles, guys, ankles). Also, this slight crop gives the RS-X Bold a little bit more room to show-off.

We match the blue breeches with an overshirt of the same tone. Perfect for autumn weather when it isn’t quite cold enough for a jacket, this wool and cashmere-blend is totally cozy, yet still elegant. Underneath the overshirt, a classic white t-shirt pops out as almost an afterthought.  The crisp matching colours for top and pant are a fashionable choice, creating a uniform look that pulls attention down to the sneakers, while the fresh white gives a neutral base layer.

The Accessories

Finally, let’s talk about the aesthetic adornments. We have a simple gold dogtag necklace as a nod to the retro/streetstyle theme underlaying this whole look, flashing out without trying too hard. A stylish black baseball cap is a great material combo of wool and leather. The wool in the cap ties in with the undershirt, while the black tones and leather detailing on the lid matches with the RS-X Bold foundation.

Last but not least, we have a super versatile side bag. This once taboo fashion item of the retro years has made a massive comeback on the modern-day streetstyle scene, and we see it popping up just about everywhere. However, we appreciate this one in particular for the use of technical fabrics (nylon and lightweight mesh) along with the navy pop of colour that echoes the rest of the outfit.
