Here’s what a typical Thursday can look like at the PUMA Headquarters!
The Shoes
Our favourite sneaker silhouettes have received a rework with a versatility and creativity that can’t be denied. Classics such as the crisp white Roma, and the earthy Ralph Sampson Mids show off exciting new technical and performance elements, but we had to go for the Ralph Sampson Lo for this one. With a sleek black nylon upper and molded rubber overlay in a gorgeous sunny yellow shade, they’re the perfect sneakers for splashing in the spring puddles and a pleasing hybrid of form and function. Rubber mudguards are key elements incorporated into the shoes throughout the collection, rooted in Japanese heritage, and we really appreciate the unique and authentic detailing.
The Outfit
The multifaceted collection feels organic and delightfully in style. Take this detailed military jacket for example – with technical fabric to withstand any condition, it hits the utilitarian trend (that is major for spring/summer 2021) right on the head. Guaranteed to keep you comfortable while looking fly, and it’s just so darn versatile with its many pockets and storage sections.
We are living for this bright canary yellow shade, so the jacket shirt from the collection was automatically a stand out piece. With familiar PUMA branding overlaid by the signature fox logo (the namesake of Maison Kitsuné) sprawled across the back, it is a good balance of minimalism while still being expressive and eye-catching. Wear it alone or with the military jacket layered overtop; it is highly adaptable according to your fashion inspiration.
Beneath this comes a subtle statement piece in the form of a short-sleeved flap-pocket shirt. Capturing the fashion season dominated by utilitarian influences, it has industrial detailing and a functional design that melds perfectly with the pre-established vibes in the outer layers. Perfectly paired with these linen-chambray trousers which soften up the more bold aspects of the look, and ground it with that tonal and earthy feel that so much of this collection embodies. They’re nonchalant and elegant with pocket detailing that matches the military jacket and bring a luxe minimalism that you can’t help but gravitate towards. Plus the breathable and naturally soft chambray fabric originated in France, tying it all together with a gentle cultural nod to the creators’ origins.
The Accessories
We also stayed minimal and functional for the accessories, encouraged by the collection’s M.O. A black leather holdall is sophisticated and practical, can be worn over the shoulder and is ready to transport everything you may need. A single silver micro hoop plays with the chic street style aesthetic and the simple pendant on the twisted silk ribbon gives us a rustic luxury accent, building on the different textures layered throughout the look. Last but not least, the bucket hat still reigns supreme, and the branding and embroidery in this black number are both vintage and modern, while really driving home the functional fashion motto.
