PUMA INDIA FUELS PARCHAM GIRLS’ FOOTBALL DREAMS
April 16, 2021PUMA INDIA FUELS PARCHAM GIRLS’ FOOTBALL DREAMS
April 16, 2021PUMA joins hands with Mumbai-based NGO “Parcham” to empower girls through sports. With this partnership, PUMA and Parcham aim to use sports as a tool to inspire women from Mumbra, India and other marginalized communities to play football and make it a viable career option.
Since October 2012, Parcham has been helping women break free of prejudices and reclaim their freedom through football. Now, together with PUMA, the NGO further aims to provide the required resources that will help them build their self-confidence, improve their physical and mental wellbeing while enabling them to explore career opportunities in sports. As a first action, a football coaching session with young Parcham girls took place. The online-session was conducted by Manchester City coaching staff. Together they learned about the mental & physical aspects and skill sets of the sport. The young Parcham ladies think about the opportunity to take up football coaching as a profession.
Sports has the ability to change lives – it is a powerful tool to challenge gender norms and stereotypes. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to play, irrespective of their gender or background. Through this association, we are looking to drive the change needed for a future where every woman and girl has equal opportunities to pursue her dreams.
Through this partnership, PUMA will also provide training gear and products that will give girls from Parcham a competitive edge. In addition to this, the brand will also leverage its roster of global sports partners and athletes to provide more coaching sessions for Parcham’s trainers, coaches and footballers.
Women football has huge potential in our country and our national team has done exceedingly well in the past. Such social inclusive initiative led by PUMA will help us to not only reach out to more and more talents at the grassroots, it will also help to make a difference to the lives of these youngsters.
