Award-winning designer and iconic style architect June Ambrose joined the PUMA family in 2020 as creative director of PUMA Hoops. Her debut creation is the High Court Collection ─ a basketball-inspired lifestyle capsule that boldly celebrates the intersection of sport and style. PUMA’s first ever female-focused basketball clothing line features some updated essentials and fierce new favourites which we’ve incorporated into our outfits of the day.

The Shoes

As part of the Women’s Hoops category, the collection draws from the brand’s rich sports heritage with the aim of empowering women both on and off court. So for all you ballers out there, get ready to add some sleek new sneakers to your collection. Merging streetstyle with performance, there’s the ultra-cool hightop Regal RS Renegades, the Maverick Court Riders with their  fierce leopard-meets-camouflage print, and the laidback and lux Legendary Suedes. And if sneakers aren’t your thing, the new Leadcat Glory slides, in black with faux fur detailing,  are also ultra on-trend and ever so comfy.

The Outfit(s)

Apparel from the line was designed to make you feel powerful and fearless. Whether athletic or not, the fresh pieces are redefining what it means to be stylish in sport. Unapologetically fierce, there are updated essentials like sports bras and leggings with elevated trims, bold colours and top-notch functionality as well as some more loud and proud statement items.

We had a tough time narrowing it down to just one look, so instead we chose to mix and match different pieces for two unique styles. The first goes for versatility, with a marriage of luxury and athleisure. Start with the relaxed Diggins Breakaway Pant in beige with daring red button up sides. From there, the Unity Crop Top with its zip-up front and splashes of colour was the perfect match. Wrapping it up, a wool and cashmere scarf/vest/jacket is one of the ‘it’ items this winter season and complements the splashier colours nicely, allowing them to really pop out and brighten up the duller days.

The second look strives for streetsyle nonchalance. On the bottom, the gorgeous Love Leggings are fabulous and functional, with arches of outrageous colours that accentuate the female form and deliver a powerful statement. This fitted layer goes well with the University Hoodie thanks to its more casual shape and laidback design. Overtop, a darkwash utility-inspired shacket (that’s a shirt jacket) is the perfectly fashionable finish. The mod world adores the shacket at the moment, and this item is both understated and yet elevated.

The Accessories

Simple and elegant, the first outfit takes the hoop theme quite literally with a pair of oversized golden hoop earrings and a darling gold cuff bracelet to match. Then the University Shopper is utilitarian chic, and the ideal size to carry anything you may need (to the gym or otherwise).

The second look stays practical and stylish ─ the Hope Cross Body bag is perfect for the essentials, and the Madison Beanie is low-key but still lush with that leopard print meets camo pattern. Knot it off with an oversize black cashmere scarf for some added texture and intrigue.
