Who, what, where: Round-Up of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 and all the PUMA Athletes

July 20, 2023

Today, the football world looks up to the Women`s World Cup in Down Under. As the event kicks off, we are excited to take a closer look at this year’s tournament and our PUMA athletes who will be competing on the biggest Women’s Football stage in history so far!

On the rise

Women’s Football has kicked off excitement over the past years. Not only are more and more girls and women joining the game, but the sport is enjoying the interest of a growing audience across the world and is expected to attract even more viewers this summer – making the World Cup 2023 the greatest celebration of Women’s Football to date.

A new mode

Jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the Women`s World Cup 2023 is the first to feature 32 teams, adapting to the men`s tournament mode. In addition to well-known football heavy-weights such as Germany, USA, or England, we have the joy of seeing eager first timers like Vietnam, Ireland, or Morocco which is one of our PUMA national teams!

Games will take place in both Australia and New Zealand between the 20 July and 20 August – with the final match being played in the Sydney Olympic Stadium.

FOREVER.FASTER. on and off the pitch

Alongside the on-pitch spectacle, we are transforming Cockatoo Island in Sydney into PUMA island and host various activities there. The opening event includes a panel talk, highlighting women in sports. Our ongoing research on ACL injuries on female footballers, the impact of sports uniforms on girls, and what impact periods can have on athletes will be the topics of the panel. We also teamed up with The OGs, the trailblazing women who inspired so many girls to take up football, who will be involved in various activities throughout the tournament.

And we are looking forward to the upcoming weeks full of football, thrilling matches and celebrations of grand victories on and off the pitch!

⚽️⚽️⚽️ Stay tuned and cheer on 🎉!
