Immediate Action, Lasting Impact

PUMA has continued to support the relief efforts in the region since the first days of the Kahramanmaraş-based Earthquake on February 6 2023. From cash donations and PUMA products to a PUMA container in HATAY Serinyol district, we stepped in to support the earthquake victims in Hatay.

However, our goal was never just a quick fix. At PUMA, we believe in sustainable support that carries communities over and above the tough times. So, we signed as the official shirt sponsor of Atakaş Hatayspor for the 2023/24 season, creating a long-term partnership that will go beyond the pitch.

Rising from the Ashes

Hatayspor, the football heart and soul of Hatay, faced a unique challenge. The club, which had fought its way into the Turkish Super League in 2020, found itself up against the aftermath of the 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquakes. The stadium has been damaged, the training ground has been turned into a temporary home for displaced families, and they had to forfeit from the league in the 2022-23 season. As the new season arrives, the team’s spirit remains unbroken, even though the team will play their home games in a neighbouring city – Mersin – a 3 hours drive away.

The signing ceremony of the agreement was hosted by PUMA Middle East General Manager Taner Seyis, Atakaş Hatayspor Vice President Aydın Toksöz, and Atakaş Hatayspor Technical Director Volkan Demirel also attended the ceremony. We are proud to walk the road back to the pitch with them and their team.

From Heart to Home

Our partnership with Hatayspor goes beyond the pitch – it’s a commitment to their comeback. Not only has part of our Social Responsibility budget been set aside for this endeavor, showcasing our determination to stand by Hatay for the long haul, but the Hatayspor kits tell their own story too.

🖤 The jet-black Special Alternative Jersey pays tribute to those who lost their lives, and represents Turkey’s inexpressible mourning for the losses in the earthquake.

💙 The Away Jersey, in navy blue and red colors, indicates gratitude to the people of Mersin city that will host Atakaş Hatayspor in the 2023/24 season. The graphic patterns on the jersey symbolize the tears shed by Turkey for those lost in the February 6 earthquake.

♥️ And of course, the club’s classic burgundy and white Home Jersey keeps the beloved barred design tradition and features a mountain gazelle figure – a protected species that only lives in Hatay – which reflects the spirit of Hatayspor with its ambitious, aggressive, and adaptable nature.

A Black Jersey: Symbol of Unity

The ‘Special Alternative Jersey’ is designed entirely in black as a meaningful tribute and represents Turkey’s inexpressible mourning for the losses in the earthquake. The profit from selling the black-colored Special Alternative Jerseys will be transferred to Atakaş Hatayspor, to support rebuilding the team’s facilities and fields in Hatay.

So, as Hatayspor takes the field this season, every pass, every goal, and every cheer represents more than just a game. It’s a testament to human spirit, resilience, and the power of partnerships that extend far beyond the pitch.

The Final Whistle

Just like a football team rallies together, PUMA stands there, shoulder to shoulder with Hatay and Hatayspor. We’re not just spectators; we’re players in the game of rebuilding lives and communities. We will support Hatayspor, because we believe that everybody who wants to play, should be able to.
