PUMA x DAPPER DAN

Harlem hype merges with sportswear structure in the latest meeting of minds between PUMA and Dapper Dan. The vibrant new collection captures that spirit of Harlem’s historic block parties and infuses it into sportstyle items. Influenced by the rich energy released at the intersection of sportswear, hip-hop and haute couture, we’ve styled two new looks interwoven with items from the line.

The Shoes

At the forefront of footwear are the newly transformed Clyde and Slipstreams, each emerging from that potent fusion of Harlem energy with PUMA sports heritage. In the outfits today we went with two different versions of the Clyde, a staple of hip-hop style; plus the launch coincides with the 50th anniversary of the PUMA Clyde creation. In this collection they’re available in contrasting colorways with characteristic chunky logos proudly travelling from  “Harlem” to the “World,” and an exaggerated tongue reminiscent of vintage football boots.

The Outfit(s)

Harlem-born designer Dapper Dan needs no introduction ─ a revolutionary in the world of luxury wear and hip-hop fashion for over four decades. With that said, he brings some of his unique designs to PUMA DNA with specially curated logos, motifs and beloved monograms sprinkled throughout the collection. The collab centers around the quintessential tracksuit, born and popularized in NYC; for the first look we’ve split the difference and gone with the meticulously crafted T7 Jacket, embellished with a custom pattern and elevated by a DDP special badge nodding to the partnership. Below that comes the crisp graphic tee, also re-imagined through DD’s stylistic lens with a keen attention to detail, and the bottoms are finished off with a vivid pair of mesh shorts from the line in a rich red shade with a luxe monogram-inspired design.

The second outfit starts strong with a trendy fitted cropped polo with that same co-branded badge and colour matching. Overtop comes a silky mens button-up in a complimentary shade of purple, leaning into those luxe-meets-Harlem feels. The black jacket from the line finishes up the top layers, a deep black with red details and subtle patterning, best worn oversize with nonchalance. Finally, a pleated black miniskirt with a buckled waist belt and silver hardware is one of the seasons ‘It’ items, seen here with a more edgy, contemporary aesthetic that compliments themes in the outfit’s other layers.

The Accessories

As the collection speaks for itself, the accompanying accessories can be simple yet intentional. The first look stays on the lighthearted and bright side of the spectrum ─ vibrant blue socks and a red hard-shelled belt bag match the tones seen throughout the outfit. A rimless pair of subtle shades is affluent and on point, with slightly blue-tinted lens to tie it all together.

The second look remains on the edgier edge with comprehensive black sunglasses and sharp, abstract silver-tone stud earrings. The backpack from the collection is practical and bold, further emphasizing the more sporty aspects of the outfit.

Both looks share the bucket hat from the collection, available in two colourways for whatever vibe best suits your fancy.
