December 1, 20232023 has been the year of the Palermo with several drops and different colourways across the seasons. To celebrate the resurgence of our 80s terrace legend, we organised an internal Palermo Styling Contest at our Herzo HQ for PUMAs to join and get creative. Back to the Future: The 80s Icon styled today by our PUMAs
Terrace culture has seen a great revival and the Palermo is our nod to its 80s roots and a cherished style among football enthusiasts. To celebrate the newest Palermo drops featuring Dua Lipa and Jack Grealish, we organised a Palermo Styling Contest at our Herzo HQ, with the chance to win great prizes like a year’s worth of PUMA shoes, a whole PUMA outfit or a pair of Palermos of choice. To participate, our PUMAs were invited to showcase their creativity, style their favourite pair of Palermos and capture their individual outfits at the dedicated photo point.
Meet the Jury
The jury, consisting of our Chief Product Officer, Maria Valdes, Alex Weiland, Senior Head of BU Sportstyle, and Alberto Turincio, Teamhead Marketing Touchpoints, then chose our three winners with the best outfits.
And the winners are…
🥇 1st Place: Jenny Thich, Graphic Designer Teamsport Apparel
Jenny opted for the black and white classic version of the Palermos and added some pops of soft pink to the outfit. Starring beside the Palermos is her furry hat, that not only makes a real fashion statement but also makes the outfit cool, cozy and keeps her warm in the cold German fall weather.
We asked, what inspired you, Jenny, for that outfit?
“What definitely inspired me was the cold weather, so I went for a more cozy and casual look with the wide pants and kimono. When I go to the office, I feel like I can dress however I want, so I pick the most comfortable pieces and I always love to add a pop color to the whole outfit. Super simple and not really much behind it but works apparently 😉.”

🥈 2nd Place: Florian Kieser, Junior PLM Teamsport Accessories Licensed
Florian Kieser, took his outfit to the core of terrace, pairing the Palermos with a football jersey. The knit hat and the lightweight puffer vest made the outfit perfect for fall and with the Palermos in pink and green adding the pop of color.
Asked, what his inspiration was, Florian told us:
“The inspiration for this look came from the current Blokecore Trend, which can be seen all over social media like Instagram and Pinterest. It’s a fun vintage nostalgic style that I absolutely love as a football enthusiast and player myself. I combined my hometown love for my old club and my passion for PUMA, it was the perfect outfit for me to express myself and the new Palermo.”

Style Flos Outfit
🥉 3rd Place: Amelie Geier, Intern PLM Sportstyle Apparel
Amelie Geier’s colorful outfit stole the spotlight, securing her the 3rd prize. She combined a very on trend quilted jacket that matches the lively colors of her favorite Palermos perfectly. Combined with wide leg light blue jeans, a white old school PUMA T-Shirt and a cozy beanie, the outfit conveys colorful coziness.
Amelie explained about her Inspiration:
“My colleagues here in our Sportstyle Apparel and Design teams inspired me! I think the shoes deserve more than a very basic outfit around them just to make them pop – I see my colleagues combining a lot of colors all the time and I love that. So, I tried to style my outfit the same way and I love how it turned out! The jacket is one of my favorite pieces, I have been searching for it so long and finally found it on a second hand platform just recently. And the colors luckily just match my Palermos perfectly.”
