The story about our PUMA Archive exhibitions
March 25, 2024The story about our PUMA Archive exhibitions
March 25, 2024The PUMA Archive does more than just storing our iconic footwear; it shares them with the world. Over the past five years, we’ve showcased our shoes, jerseys and other memorabilia in 35 exhibitions all over the world, held in museums and stores, either organized by PUMA or on loan from the PUMA Archive.
Our exhibits are as diverse as our heritage. From sneaker conventions like Sneakerness to retrospectives at the London Design Museum, from unveiling our latest FUTURE campaigns to celebrating sports history. Who could forget the unique display at Munich’s Mineralogical Museum in 2022, where our sneakers were showcased alongside matching natural materials to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Munich Olympics. And this year, we’re excited to host a special showcase at PUMA House for the Paris Olympic Games!
These exhibitions are our window to the world, an invitation to explore PUMA’s rich past and set the record straight where myths may have crept in. For many, what’s common knowledge to us PUMAs is a revelation. It’s our chance to spotlight our breakthroughs, the legends who’ve walked in our shoes, and the roots of our brand to a broad audience.
The journey from the archive to an exhibition is a dance of collaboration. The Archive Team partners with organizers to curate the pieces that tell our story. Once the loan agreement has been reached, the Archive Team leaves nothing to chance to make the journey from the archive to the exhibition as save as possible, from cushioning our products for travel, to ensuring they’re displayed with care and properly set up under the safety glass at their new temporary homes.
WELL-TRAVELED SHOES
Among the stars of the show is the 1986 RS computer shoe, a trailblazer that’s jet-setted to nine countries and graced twelve exhibitions since 2020, locking in an impressive 59,000 km in its travels! The RS-Computer isn’t just interesting as a shoe; it’s a storyteller, combining tales of sneaker history, evolution and innovation.
