At a recent event hosted by Cascale, PUMA joined over 600 participants from all corners of the industry —manufacturers, brands, retailers, academics, NGOs, and others to share insights and ideas to push industry progress in sustainability further.

A warm welcome

Stefan Seidel, Senior Director of Corporate Sustainability at PUMA, kicked off the conference by emphasizing the importance of industry events for connecting people and pushing sustainability forward.

“Our partnership with Cascale underscores our dedication to engaging with industry leaders and stakeholders, promoting meaningful discussions and collaborations. Since 2012, PUMA has proudly been a member of Cascale, embracing the same values of collaboration and collective action within our industry for sustainability.”

Drive the change

Stefan Seidel and Veronique Rochet, Senior Director of Sustainability, were key speakers on the Global Energy Trends panel, sharing insights on PUMA’s Climate Strategy, our progress and targets in renewable energy and how we are working together with our suppliers to increase their use of renewable energy.

Stefan also explained PUMA’s role in shaping policy and regulations through collaboration with partners, suppliers, and organizations like the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. Most recently at the UN COP28, PUMA met with representatives from Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Vietnam to promote renewable energy expansion in these countries.

Veronique Rochet shared more about PUMA’s collaborative efforts to uphold PUMA’s fair labor standards and prevent human rights violations throughout our supply chain. PUMA’s Responsible Purchasing Practices Policy aims to mitigate negative impacts on human and labor rights. To ensure transparency and accountability PUMA collaborates with Better Buying for supplier feedback and are members of the Fair Labor Association, who audit PUMA’s compliance program.

Veronique also discussed the Higg FSLM Zero Tolerance Improvement Initiative which ties zero-tolerance issues, like human rights violations, to sustainability bonus targets, requiring resolution of potential issues within the calendar year.

The Cascale Annual Meeting 2024 was a fantastic opportunity for industry leaders to come together, share ideas, and drive positive change.

There is only one FOREVER. Lets make it BETTER.
