The Art of Sport
Artistry of Movement
July 19, 2021Artistry of Movement
July 19, 2021The latest capsule collection by PUMA honours the power and positivity of people coming together through sport. Drawing design inspiration from Japan, the collection showcases apparel, footwear and accessories in a bold black and white color scheme with striking red accents and kamon-esque graphics. Today we’re celebrating sport as a form of art and have crafted two outfits to help you best express this.
The Shoes
Motivated by the ethos of art in sport and movement, the capsule includes some favourite footwear with sharp new silhouettes and bold design features. There’s some familiar faces, including the RS-Z, Mirage Sport and City Rider, all done up with mixed material bases, alternating black and white palettes and red accents.
For today’s looks, we went for the PUMA Suede AS in its svelte black suede upper and matching mesh-like tongue, juxtaposed against leather formstrip and heel. New ‘Art of Sport’ logos display themselves on the heel and tongue tags. Our other outfit rocks the Wild Riders AS with their crisp white base and vibrant ‘High Risk Red’ and black detailing.
The Outfit
Sport is a form of art – it impacts our minds, bodies, and souls, and has the power to change the way we see the world. This line embraces this idea and encapsulates it within free-flowing and comfortable apparel items revealing chic black, white and red colour combinations and Kamon-inspired graphics. The Kamon is similar to a family crest or emblems, uniquely found in Japan and used to decorate and honour a family bloodline or ancestral origins.
And so the two outfits recognize and pay homage to PUMA’s athleisure lineage. The first look throws it back to classic sportstyle. On top, a fresh white terry hoodie with a kangaroo pocket and striking chest emblem turns heads. Next layer on the iconic AS track top with a vibrant dash of red front and center, and a subtle matching metallic logo for a splash of contrast. A pair of mid-blue cropped and cuffed jeans complement the athleisure elements and add to the relaxed vintage sport style.
The second outfit displays the functional and flattering leggings from the line, with that just-right fit. Above comes a satin camisole T-shirt in a compelling shade of blue. The cropped length goes well with the shape created by the leggings, and plays with colour principles: the cooler blue hue paired with the warm red tones makes a contrast that causes both to pop. Finally, drape a hoodie – such as this asymmetric cotton cross-over hood – to complete the effortless look.
The Accessories
The first look rocks a compact side bag from the collection, with its slick asymmetric detail and layered material mixture. Refined blue-grey sunglasses give a classic cool vibe and a pair of navy leather over-ear headphones guarantee you can freely move and groove as you choose.
The second style boasts a lovely balloon bag with gold hardware. Vintage round frame sunnies with sweet blue lenses match the satiny top while a quirky pair of twisted hoop earrings complete the circle, with gold that glints like the bag and black fabric that matches the shades that run throughout the outfit.
