Spooky Nostalgia

November 19, 2024

PUMA is making waves with its first-ever collab with London’s luxury streetwear brand, Aries. After dropping hints during PUMA’s New York Fashion Week show in February 2024, the partnership is officially here, blending PUMA’s iconic roots with Aries’ bold, graphic-heavy style. The collection is a mix of high-end streetstyle and gender-fluid fashion, pulling in everything from racing vibes to kitschy nostalgia. In response to the launch, we’ve styled two fresh new looks that showcase how to bring old-school into the now, with a dash of spooky season vibes sprinkled throughout.

The Shoes

For the footwear lineup, PUMA and Aries focus on the iconic Suede and the standout Mostro. The PUMA Suede, once a basketball shoe and now a cultural classic, joins forces with the Y2K-era Mostro, known for its unique spiky sole. Both styles are revamped with functional updates like toggle laces, rubberized mudguards, and lightweight fabrics, creating a fresh nod to the tech-forward spirit of the early 2000s.

The Mostro takes center stage in this collaboration, reimagined with mesh, neoprene, and suede. Aries adds its signature touch with an elastic closure and adjustable rear toggle. Meanwhile, the Suede gets a modern twist with a rubberized mudguard, leather toe cap, and unique graphic details on the heel and tongue—a seamless blend of innovation and nostalgia.

The outfits

The Outfit(s)

Merging PUMA’s heritage with Aries’ luxe streetwear vibe and bold graphics, this collaboration provides a playful mix of modern and nostalgic elements, with genderless clothing that stands out with statement graphics, alongside experimental knitwear and sleek double nylon pieces. Notable mentions in the first look include the moto-mesh long-sleeve tee, adorned with a range of Aries’ custom graphics, and a lightweight, water-repellent nylon jacket. The jacket features a striking digital print showcasing a skeletal “PUMA” x-ray graphic, setting an edgy tone for the rest of the look. Along with these, we’ve paired a super sleek pair of black leather trousers and a rich red sweater with scarf detailing at the neck for added interest.

The second look continues to channel spooky nostalgia into a wearable, everyday aesthetic. Key pieces include the lace-knit tight tee, inspired by cycling gear and crafted from a unique knitted jacquard, the second half of the nylon ‘Skeleton’ set, and the striking knit cardigan featuring a distinct digital print. Adding a modern edge to the lineup is a stunning cropped leather cape, blending sophistication with urban flair for a standout look.

The Accessories

Gender-neutral accessories are an easy way to break free from societal boundaries and elevate any look. This collaboration delivers two highlighted items that playfully tap into kitsch vibes—the Puma x Aries cap (seen in the first look) and a mini grip bag (in the second). Both pieces channel a nostalgic nod to ’80s and ’90s mall culture, blending retro charm with modern street style. Circulating these, to the first outfit we’ve also added some simple silver jewelry, slightly more complex silver-tone sunglasses and a patent-leather trimmed mesh shoulder bag that matches texture and tone. The second look is further completed by solid black acetate shades, a monochrome watch, and a cozy shearling bucket hat for added warmth.

Hauntingly chic and nostalgically grunge, the new PUMA x ARIES collection includes a rich array of ready-to-wear clothing items, old school-meets-new school accessories and technologically advanced footwear options. Check out the new gender-neutral collab and see which pieces speak to you.
