PUMA has partnered with LAAMS, a creative hub in the Lower East Side to deliver a distinctive take on the PUMA Suede, inviting inspiring (and aspiring) artists to explore their craft and try their hand at a little sneaker DIY. Inspired by this artistic approach we’ve styled an expressive look to accompany the drop.

The Shoes

The Suede LAAMS ‘Blank Canvas’ is a creatively driven, DIY-inspired sneaker featuring a dual-layer design that offers an interactive and artistic fashion experience. Blending art with footwear, the “Blank Canvas” Suede includes a removable canvas layer on the upper, which can be torn off to expose the green fuzzy suede underneath. This collaboration encourages wearers to “Wear them into the ground,” inviting them to design a uniquely personal look for their special Suedes.

Beyond the tearaway canvas upper and the textured suede base, the PUMA x LAAMS Suede is filled with intricate details like fuzzy laces, silver lace jewels engraved with “PUMA” and “LAAMS,” and a map of Manhattan’s Lower East Side etched into the outsole.

It is known for fostering creativity and collaboration across various artistic mediums and cultivating cultural expression in the Lower East Side. At the base of today’s outfit is a blank canvas of an item: a sleek and sporty jumpsuit with an open back keeps things breezy with asymmetrical shoulder detailing for a dash of something different. Over this comes the oversized canvas hoodie from the collection, begging to be splashed with some creative impulse or bold colour. We’ve leaned into a little bit of luxe with the accessories, but the beauty of these extra accompaniments is that you can fully shift the mood of your outfit with just a few subtle pieces.
