July 14, 2020To be an Ultra-Marathon runner you have to RUN A LOT! And that’s what he does. Meet Souleymane Ghani, a PUMA Sales Associate at our Mall of Emirates Store. He just has some milk or water in the morning and he is good to go, clocking a minimum of 40-42 km (25 miles) every day, in the desert heat.
According to Souleymane, to be an Ultra-Marathon runner you have to run at least 250 km a week, so your legs and body get used to the extreme distances. If Souleymane needs to work, he splits his daily 42 or 40 km in two. He runs in the morning before going to work and after work, too, to relax. It depends on the weather, but if the climate is good, he can do a 20 km run in less than two hours.
The 36-year-old started to take running seriously in 2016 and participated in several marathons across the globe. Next weekend he will run a non-competition ultramarathon, 120 km, from Dubai to Hatta in Oman with PUMA´s new UltraRide Performance Running Sneaker. To make it extra hard, he won’t take the road for this run but will go through the mountains instead. He expects the run to take more than eleven hours.
My favourite thing about running marathons is the pain. I like when you start feeling pain because that means you need to keep going and you can apply that to life: things are going to get hard and you don’t need to back off, you just need to focus and move forward.
“I always think of running as my meditation, where I can reflect on myself,” he says. Keep the Forever Faster spirit going Souleymane!
