The 37th PUMA Herzoman Triathlon marked another milestone in the world of sports.
July 11, 2024The 37th PUMA Herzoman Triathlon marked another milestone in the world of sports.
July 11, 2024The Herzoman, a renowned triathlon event, has been a cornerstone of the athletic community since its start in 1986. Organized by the triathlon team at TS Herzogenaurach, the event is a test of endurance and skill, featuring three distinct disciplines: swimming, cycling, and running. Participants dive into the swimming portion, covering either 200m or 400m depending on their category. The swimmers’ progress is tracked using differently coloured swimming caps. Following the swim, athletes transition to the cycling stage, which is characterized by a long, straight section that tests their speed and stamina. The final stretch of the triathlon is a run through a shaded forest.
The 37th PUMA Herzoman took place on June 30, 2024, a resounding success, fully booked with over 530 participants. Among the competitors, twelve PUMA athletes crossed the finish line, demonstrating their resilience and determination. Two PUMA women, Lucie Dejardin and Magdalena Beck, made it to the podium, respectively securing 2nd and 3rd place in the AK2 age group. Notably, Lucie also pulled off the title of city champion. This event marked Lucie’s first triathlon, making a remarkable debut, setting a high bar for future competitions. Not to forget, the PUMA relay team, comprising Jonas Gerlach, his mother, and his brother, also had a strong showing, securing third place.
Lucie Dejardin
Lucie participated in her first triathlon, the Herzoman, which she found to be an ideal event for beginners. This event marked Lucie’s return to racing after a 1.5-year hiatus due to a running injury. The joy of being able to run again was a significant highlight for her. The experience overall was not just about the race, but also about overcoming personal challenges and enjoying the spirit of community.
Magdalena Beck
Magdalena expressed her gratitude for the event’s organization and the support she received on the day of the race. She was particularly impressed with the overall organization of the event, stating that she had no complaints or issues with the transition points. The well-marked cycling route and smooth transitions contributed to her overall satisfaction.
Not to forget, Petra Sticker, as the main organizer of PUMA Herzoman Event. For over 27 years, she has dedicated many volunteer hours and much passion to this event together with the local TSH club. To her, it has always been a labour of love and joy to see it come to fruition each year.
I would also like to express my gratitude to some of my PUMA colleagues, Dietmar Knoess and Petra Hofmann from P&O Puma Athlete and esspecially Stefan Wilk, for their support in coordinating the event. Without their assistance and dedication, organizing this event would not have been possible.
As we close the chapter on this year’s PUMA Herzoman, we eagerly look forward to witnessing more remarkable achievements from our athletes and cherishing the unity that makes this event so special.
