Learn more about her in our interview.
What inspired you to pursue a career in professional athletics?
Taylor: I was fortunate to grow up close to an indoor track facility. I attended countless meets where many college and professional athletes competed. From a young age I knew, I loved competition and running. Once I found out running could be a career it became my dream to one day be a professional athlete. There were various points along the way where this dream felt out of reach. I approach this next phase with gratitude and excitement.
How did you reconcile studying and training? Any tips you would like to share?
Taylor: It was challenging balancing studying and training. Both are time consuming and very tiring. It was challenging at times to pursue both at a high level. But just as many other student-athletes would say, it is made possible with good time management. It also involves giving yourself grace. I don’t have any earth shattering or ground breaking tips unfortunately. Only the basic advice of limiting procrastination. Your future self will be very happy.
Why did you choose PUMA as your brand of choice?
Taylor: Everyone I have come into contact inside the PUMA brand has been so good to me. I feel fortunate to be supported by a brand who pushes for excellence and believes I can be a piece of that.
What excites you the most about joining the PUMA Elite Team?
Taylor: I am excited to be surrounded by others who are competiting at the highest level. I am grateful for the Craggs belief in me and look forward to being elevated by those around me.
How do you plan to represent PUMA both on and off the field?
Taylor: I plan to utilize this opportunity to chase my goals and to hopefully inspire in the same way I was at a young age.
What are your favorite PUMA products?
Taylor: Picking favorites is hard. Immediately I was impressed with PUMA´s shoe technology. The brand’s dedication to providing the best product for its athletes to compete at their best was a brand I knew I needed to be apart of.
Is there a tournament you are particularly looking forward to?
Taylor: This past weekend I was able to make my professional debut at the US Olympic Trials. This truly was a dream come true.
What is your ultimate sporting goal?
Taylor: My ultimate goal is to make it to the world /olympic championship teams and elevate US distance running.
Lastly, what message would you like to send to aspiring athletes who look up to you?
Taylor: My message is to not to be ashamed in your journey and pursuit of your goals. There were times for me when mine felt out of reach but I put my head down and got to work. Your path will look different but never be ashamed of your goals. Even for the most outrageous goals.
Thank you very much for the insights, Taylor. We wish you many more sporting successes and lots of fun!
